Projects will be funded based on community involvement and sustainability of trail design. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of AQHA Corporate Partner, Tractor Supply Company, funding is available for a variety of trail activities. Application must be received by AQHA on or before August 1 of each year to be considered for funding. Visit ridegreen.aqha.com for more information. Please use the following checklists to verify that your project will qualify for funding. Submissions that do not include all the required documentation will not be considered for funding.

In order to qualify for any funding, the STEP project(s) must meet the following criteria:

  1. Projects can include a variety of requests including, but not limited to:
    1. Public land agencies – i.e. BLM, NPS, NFS and local government
    2. Individual groups or private ranches
    3. Tool needs
    4. Educational programs
  2. Have a letter of approval/authorization sent to AQHA from the land manager or owner of the property
  3. Be a registered event for STEP – form available at ridegreen.aqha.com
  4. Have publicized the project in local media, including copies of the printed articles with the project submission
  5. Applications must be submitted by August 1. No late applications will be accepted – no exception.

Submissions must include ALL of the following to be considered for review:

  1. Approximately date of completion for project
  2. Project name
  3. Project location (city, state, name of land, name of trail if available)
  4. Land manager or owner contact information, including full name, title, mailing address, daytime phone number, e-mail address and Web site (if available)
  5. Name of host organization
  6. Primary contact person for the host organization, including full name, title, mailing address, daytime phone number, e-mail address and Web site address (if available)
  7. Description of the project (approximately 50 words)
  8. Letter of approval/authorization from the land manager
  9. Complete and return volunteer information form which includes full name(s), mailing address, daytime phone number, signature and e-mail address
  10. Amount of volunteer hours – must be documented
    11. Copies of any articles published in local newspaper and/or magazine
  11. Written summary of the project that includes the following:
    1. Purpose and need for the project
    2. Benefit to the equestrian community and to the community as a whole
    3. Specific work accomplished by the project
    4. Number of volunteers and their specific duties during the project
    5. Number of volunteer hours used to complete each project (If multiple day projects, please use a separate sheet for each day.)
    6. Additional documentation may include photographs or other appropriate material. Please DO NOT include video or audio tapes.

Summary of project may not exceed three typewritten pages double spaced, type face Times New Roman, 12 point with margins not less than 1” around the page.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER PROJECTS – August 1, 2009. All submissions become the property of American Quarter Horse Association and may be used for publicity and/or shared with STEP partnering organizations.
